The project
Emory Douglas was the Minister of Culture and Revolutionary Artist for The Black Panther, overseeing the art direction and production from 1967-1980. This project was a magazine spread to highlight his work and its impact on social justice art and the movement for Black liberation.
The design
With this design, I sought to emulate a newspaper article to reflect and modernize the style of the original publication, The Black Panther. I used a newspaper gray as the background and kept the ink colors to black to showcase the power of Douglas' illustrations.
